Republicans Call For Legislation That Will Cripple The NFL In Response To Anthem Protests

The NFL has made it clear that they will not separate sports and politics. Now, many Americans are turning their backs on their once beloved football. Republican Representative Mo Brooks has come forward to announce that he has an idea that will change the way the NFL protesters think. He is proposing that we separate all Federal funding from the NFL.

The Alabama representative has explained that he is sick and tired of hearing about the self-entitled athletes in the NFL blatantly disrespecting the American flag and our entire country. They are literally playing a game to collect a publicly supported paycheck. They had better learn to stand up for the National Anthem. His solution to the issue is to make sure the United States government no longer funds the NFL through taxpayers’ money. If they can’t stand up and honor the men and women who have died for our country, then they don’t deserve our money. It seems that the only way to get through to these athletes is by hitting them where it hurts the most, their wallets.

Breitbart reported:

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said on Tuesday that the federal government should not financially support the NFL because of players’ disrespectful “take a knee” protests during the national anthem.

“I believe we ought to terminate all federal government support of the NFL,” Brooks told Breitbart News following the Conversations with Conservatives event at the Capitol. “That would include the termination of any and all advertising that is done on behalf of the federal government — military and non-military — to the extent we do any.”

“The same thing with any other professional sport that insults our country and our flag and our anthem as the NFL has done,” said Brooks, who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

If we were to stop all Federal funding to the NFL, these players would have to take a serious step back and think about if what they’re doing is right, and if they still believe it is, they will have to ask themselves if it is worth it to lose all of their fanbase, support, and money. If the majority of Americans are in support of standing for the National Anthem, why can’t these athletes take their protests elsewhere? They have the right to free speech, just like everyone else in America, but they need to keep it out of their job and off the football field.

How hard is it really for these guys who cry “oppression” and “racism” in America when they are living in multimillion-dollar estates, driving the nicest vehicles, and giving their families lives most Americans will never even be able to dream about? It’s about time these NFL players show some respect to the country that gave them such wonderful opportunities and the men and women who fought for their freedom. If taking their funding away is the only way to get them to listen, then I’m all for it.
